About Our Speaker: Laurie Walsh

Laurie Walsh, a retired therapist, probation officer and published author, first and foremost likes to think of herself as a Montana girl. She is the youngest sister of three girls. Laurie was raised in a small Montana town attending Catholic Schools and the local University. Laurie began her interest in working with people early on when she and her husband managed a state group home where over a three-year period, they fostered 58 troubled teens.

Laurie and her husband “H” relocated to Arizona in 1987 where she earned a master’s degree in counseling and human development. For the next 35 years, she worked with adults and teens specializing in cases of molestation, domestic violence, trauma, and addiction. Laurie was the founder and coordinator of the Phoenix Magnificat Chapter for 8 yrs. and since 2018 has been the Region 3 Communications Representative of the International Ministry.

She returned to Montana for five years to assist her husband’s aging parents and recently returned to Arizona in November of 2023. Laurie has been a featured speaker and trainer at various parishes, conferences, and diocesan events in the U.S. Laurie’s greatest joy is giving her time to honor Our Mother Mary.

History of North County San Diego Chapter of Magnificat

The North County San Diego, Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapter, began in the early 1990’s. It took over a year of dedicated, faith filled women, prayer and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to begin the chapter. The Chapter spun from the Central San Diego Chapter which is now inactive.
